As part of its strategic goal to enhance maritime cybersecurity, the Digital Security Authority, in collaboration with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Shipping Deputy Ministry, the U.S. Embassy, Sandia National Laboratories from the U.S. and the Open University of Cyprus, organized the second cybersecurity workshop “Preventing Cyber Aggression in the Maritime Domain”.

The workshop took place on 4 - 5 November 2024 at the CYCLOPS Training Center, Larnaca, and is being the latest in a series of events related in cybersecurity in the maritime domain, organised at a regional level.

The workshop attracted a substantial number of applicants, with significant interest from both private and public entities, totalling 65 participants. Over the course of the two days, participants gained valuable insights into the latest illicit cyber operations in the maritime domain and learned how to leverage open-source intelligence tools through a hands-on table-top exercise, providing for a practical learning experience.

Opening remarks were made by:
Mr. George Michaelides, Commissioner of Communications
Dr. Antonios A. Madella, on behalf of the Permanent Secretary of Shipping Deputy Ministry
Professor Stavros Stavrou, Rector of the Open University of Cyprus
Joanna Young and Casey Dean Haynes, Sandia National Laboratories
